The first images of Barack Obama’s Cadillac Presidential Limousine have been released – and it’s an imposing machine. As the President of the USA and the world’s most powerful man, Obama will always be a high risk figure so the new Caddy needs to be of the highest security.
As a result, Cadillac won’t detail the car’s full specification but expect the car to be completely armoured with bullet-proof windows and bodywork able to repel machine guns and even rocket launchers. The tyres will be specially designed and puncture resistant while the undercarriage is likely to be reinforced and bomb-proof.
All this means the limousine is really heavy – which mean the Cadillac will need a hugely powerful engine just to transport it at regular speeds, which will undoubtedly result in a sub-10mpg fuel average.
The car’s exterior features a dual-textured grille similar to the ones seen on the Cadillac CTS and Escalade with the front and rear lighting also the same as the two models.
And of course there’s the all-important US flag on the right-hand side of the bonnet with the presidential standard on the left.
its sufering peer
Speculation is rife on the Internet as to the car’s interior with some bloggers suggesting there is a separate oxygen supply, tear gas canons, night-vision goggles, pump-action shotguns and Obama’s personal storage of blood.
All Cadillac is saying is that the Presidential Limousine includes an extensive executive compartment with ample seating space, outward visibility and useful mobile office features.
But there’s no news yet on whether the interior will feature a plug-in for Obama’s iPod or screens to play Call of Duty on the Xbox 360.
Cadillac has built limos and special vehicles for US presidents, diplomats, ambassadors and foreign dignitaries since 1919 when President Wilson was driven through the streets of Boston following the end of World War One.
Barack Obama’s new Cadillac will make its official debut on Tuesday as part of the new president’s parade.
