Bugatti has just revealed its first all-new model since the groundbreaking Veyron – the Bugatti Galibier 16C.
The Bugatti Galibier 16C is a four-door concept car which promises to be the “most powerful automobile in the world”.
And judging by the Veyron, it’s safe to say Bugatti is pretty good at making very fast cars.
The Bugatti Galibier 16C will come with an 8-litre 16-cylinder engine similar to the W16 unit found in the Veyron – except this time Bugatti has strapped on a couple of superchargers instead of the Veyron’s four turbochargers.
No word on performance, but we expect a 0-62mph time of around three seconds, a top speed touching at least 250mph and more than 900bhp.
Bugatti says the new engine in the Galibier 16C is ‘special’ because it was developed as a flex-fuel unit, and can run on ethanol.
The Galibier 16C gets new suspension and ceramic brakes together with four-wheel-drive which Bugatti claims will give it “always-sure handling” – read ‘eye-popping grip’.
The body of the Bugatti Galibier 16c is made from handmade carbon-fibre coloured in dark blue – when illuminated the “woven structure shimmers through strikingly” – while the wings and doors are made from polished aluminium, which should help keep the big Bug’s weight down.
Bugatti has designed the interior of the Galibier 16C to house two centrally-located main instruments, keeping “even the rear passengers constantly informed of the actual speed”, while Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani created the removable clock – which can be taken out of the Galibier and worn on your wrist thanks to a handy leather strap.
We’re not sure if this sensational concept is making its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show – but we reckon it is.
